![]() There are a total of 5 golden rings to collect in each level, and unlike the previous game, they actually serve a purpose this time. Like previous Ricochet game, you collect gold rings through playing levels. The editor is surprisingly simple to use, and will have you designing levels to your liking, and can create levels like the ones you play throughout the game. Like Ricochet Lost Worlds and Lost Worlds Recharged, this game features a fully functional Level Editor. After that, there are many user-designed levelsets to play through as well. After beating the first galaxy, which should take 2 to 4 hours, you can play through the second one, which introduces more challenging levels. Each planet is enviromentally unique, and each level is designed brilliantly, and there is not one level in the game that wasn't interesting. There are two "galaxies" to complete in this game, and each of them has their own planets. ![]() This game also introduces a few new powerups as well, such as the Lightning Ball, Rail Ball (which travels and destroys all bricks it passes), Fire Ball, Nuclear Beam, a new rocket launcher for your ship, as well as a few others. There is also the option for one person to control the ship, while another person uses the ball as a gun, which can also be enjoyable when you get tired of playing alone. ![]() You can choose to either help each other through a series of levels cooperatively, or compete against each other and see who can get the highest score. However, if you do choose to try it out, it actually works out very well. However, this mode requires the use of two mouses at once connected to one computer, and ideally two people at the computer, so many players would probably not even bother with this. While this might sound like nothing more than a gimmick, it is actually very useful, and you'll find yourself using it quite a bit, and it is as simple as holding the right mouse button.Īnother thing that this game introduced, one that has never been tried in any Breakout-Style game before, is the "Mouse Party" mode. One of these additions, in fact probably one of the most notable, is the ability to "recall" your ball. Ricochet doesn't do a whole lot to alter the gameplay of the previous games, however, it does have a few new nice additions. The game sounds a little lacking as well, as the music is the same as the older games, and can get rather annoying after a while. While it doesn't neccessarily look bad, especially for this type of game, it would've been nice if the graphics had a fresh new feel to them, as well as a customizable resolution under the options menu. However, you wouldn't be able to tell this by simply looking at it.įirst of all, it uses the same recycled graphics as the previous title, which was made three years ago.
